Top Dressing

Top dressing and spreading of sports sand is strongly recommended for the development of sports surfaces and pitches. As many sports pitches and golf course fairways don’t have significant percolation, the application of sports sand is critical to improve the quality and drainage of the surface.
Regular sanding programs over a period of time will build up a good soil quality which will also vastly improve the root development. Other advantages to carrying out a sand top dressing program is having a dryer playing surface, extending you’re playing season and levelling up the surface which will ensure better play and reduce injuries. It is also very important to use the correct type of sand when undertaking a sanding program, in Ireland the main source of top dressing sand is called silica sand. We use specially designed topdressing machines, fitted with grass flotation tyres to produce excellent results.
